Kayla Plantin, a sophomore from Pendleton, S.C., has been named the Beef O’Brady’s Student-Athlete of the Week at Southern Wesleyan University for the second time in the last three weeks. It was a tough week for the Lady Warriors as they dropped their second consecutive game by a single point on Thursday at Brewton Parker and then followed that up with a 73-55 loss at Southern Polytechnic State University, who was ranked 17th in the NAIA at the time. In the 75-74 at Brewton Parker, Plantin scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds. Then on Saturday, she notched her sixth double-double of the season as totaled 14 points and 10 rebounds. The Lady Warriors have looked all season to Plantin for both scoring and rebounding and she has responded all season, averaging 14.2 points per game and 8.2 rebounds per game which both lead the team. Plantin is currently fifth in the Southern States Athletic Conference in scoring and second in rebounds. Plantin and her teammates will look to build off their 85-49 victory at Columbia on Tuesday as they face local rival North Greenville University on Thursday in Tigerville, S.C. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. |
