Tessa McGaha, a senior from Belton, S.C., has signed a NAIA National Letter of Intent to play softball at Southern Wesleyan University beginning in the fall of 2010. The product of Belton Honea Path High School was a catcher last year for the Bears, but she will be on the other end of the battery in her senior year as she’ll be pitching. McGaha received her team’s Coaches Award in 2008 and in 2009, she was the team’s Defensive Most Valuable Player after recording a fielding percentage of .991. Her athleticism goes beyond the softball field as she has participated in Cross Country for five seasons. “Tessa is someone who could literally play every position on the field,” stated SWU Head Coach Ed Deugan. Coach Deugan added, “She will bring a great deal of flexibility to our lineup.” McGaha is the daughter of Steve, who is the Softball Head Coach at Belton Honea Path High School, and Charlette McGaha.
