Rodriguez enters his third season as head coach of the Southern Wesleyan University men’s soccer program. In his first two years Rodriguez has led the team to the final of the NCCAA Region, both times losing to Palm Beach Atlantic. In the SSAC/NAIA Rodriguez has been able to defeat Lee University (2009 and 2010 champs) during the regular season, and battled teams like AUM and Southern Polytechnic State University (both nationally ranked) to a one goal difference.
In the last two years Rodriguez lead the Warriors of Southern Wesleyan University have held a record of 18-17-4 (8-5-3 SSAC). He has also mentored and coached one all American NCCAA and two Honorable All American NCCAA. A graduate from Southern Wesleyan University, Rodriguez was part of the 2003 SSAC Conference Championship team. The 2003 was an extremely successful season for Rodriguez and his teammates. After finishing the regular season with a 2-4 conference record, the Warriors stormed through to the GACC Tournament title by defeating North Georgia College State University, Auburn University of Montgomery, and Reinhardt College, all by the score of 2-1. The post-season heroics didn’t stop there as the Warriors won the National Christian College Athletic Association South Region Tournament and advanced to the NCCAA National Championship game, falling to Union University 2-0.
Not only did Rodriguez find success with his team, but he also received several accolades for his individual performance. In 2001 and 2002, he was named 2nd Team All-Conference by the Georgia Alabama Carolina Conference and added a selection on the All-Region Team in the NAIA’s Region XIII in 2002. The awards in 2002 didn’t stop there as Rodriguez was also named the NCCAA All-South Region squad. After graduating from Southern Wesleyan University, Rodriguez served as an assistant/goalkeeper coach for three years where he coached the SSAC All Conference Keeper in 2008 while earning his Master’s degree. A year later Rodriguez helped as a goalkeeper coach with the Charlotte Eagles (USL-2) in Charlotte North Carolina.
