Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan is excited to announce Alexis Elrod as the new Head Athletic Trainer for Warrior Athletics.
"I'm so excited to announce that Alexis Elrod will serve as our next Head Athletic Trainer in the office of Sports Medicine within the Department of Athletics," said Director of Athletics Chris Williams. "The position will continue to support the growth of Warrior Athletics including this year's incoming recruiting class which is projected to be over 125 incoming student-athletes and a total student-athlete group of more than 300."
Elrod will lead a sports medicine program which is committed to treating the "whole person". It is her and her staff's desire to treat the student-athlete with an approach that not only addresses the physical body but the mind and spirit as well. The Sports Medicine Department will also strive to provide the most efficient and effective service for the prevention, management, and rehabilitation of injury or illness to all intercollegiate student-athletes at Southern Wesleyan University.
The Head Athletic Trainer's position serves the 18 intercollegiate teams, their coaches and their student-athletes - reports directly to the Director of Athletics and works alongside the other athletics administrative team members which include: Claire Keffer (Athletics Business Coordinator), Drew Emory (Director of Compliance), Grace Eckert (Sports Information Director), Emily Germain (Faculty Athletic Representative), Mike Gillespie (Asst. AD/Head Baseball Coach) and Julia Reininga (Associate AD/Head Volleyball Coach).
"It's all a God thing, and I'm excited to what He has planned!" said Elrod. "It's a blessing to get to start full time with a staff I already love and admire so much."
Elrod joins the Warriors full time after serving as one of the Assistant Athletic Trainers for the Sports Medicine staff for the past year.
