Jacksonville, FL – Southern Wesleyan sweeps the Trinity Baptist Eagles. The Warriors won game one of the afternoon 7-3 and went on to win the second game 15-8.
Southern Wesleyan had 15 hits in game one of the afternoon. Jesse Getford, Conner Ewing and Trey Matthews led the team with three hits each in the victory. The Warriors had six doubles in the win. Getford and Quinton Bent had two doubles each, and John Garrett and Ewing each had one. Trey Matthews had a triple during the game. Matthews and Bent led the team with two RBIs each. Getford and Bent each had two stolen bases apiece in the game one victory. Three Warriors each had one walk in the afternoon.
Southern Wesleyan posted seven strikeouts in game one of the afternoon. Josh Core started game one and pitched 4.1 innings while allowing only four hits and striking out three. Aaron Bennett and Mike Batten came in to pitch in relief. Bennett got three strikeouts, and Batten got the save.
The Warriors went on to post 16 hits in game two of the afternoon. Conner Ewing led the team with four hits in the game two victory. Ewing was followed with four players with two hits apiece. Five Warriors had doubles with Andrew Falgiano leading the team with two. Conner Ewing, Quinton Bent, Trey Matthews and Devin Patrick all had one double in the victory. Ewing also posted a triple. Ewing and Justo both had home runs. Southern Wesleyan had 11 RBIs with Andrew Falgiano leading the team with three RBIs. Falgiano was followed by Julio Justo with two. The Warriors posted eight walks, with Quinton Bent leading the team with two walks.
Southern Wesleyan posted seven strikeouts in game two of the afternoon. TJ McEvilly started for the Warriors and pitched four innings while allowing six hits and striking out three. Kyle Cook-McCrary, Daniel Singleton and Tyler Parry all came in to pitch in relief for the Warriors.

How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan kicked off game one of the double header. Jesse Getford led off with a double, and then advanced to third on a passed ball. The ball got away from the Eagles catcher yet again to allow Getford to come home and score to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead. Trinity Baptist countered with a run of their own to tie the game.
Quinton Bent doubles to kick-off the top of the fourth inning. Devin Patrick followed with a sacrifice hit to move Bent to third base. With Bent ninety feet from home plate, Trey Matthews hit a single through the left side to bring Bent home and increase the Warriors advantage to 3-1.
In the top of the fifth inning, Jesse Getford reached first base to kick-off the inning. Conner Ewing hit a double to left field to allow Getford to reach third. Izzy Martinez came in to run for Ewing. Quinton Bent hit a double through the left side to allow both Getford and Martinez to come home to give Southern Wesleyan a 5-1 lead over Trinity Baptist. The Eagles catcher nailed down Patrick at second when he attempted to steal, but the throw allowed Bent to come home to allow the Warriors to lengthen their lead. Back-to-back singles by Trey Matthews and Noah Fritz put runners on first and second to bring John Garrett up to bat. Garrett hit a single, to allow Matthews to cross home plate and put Fritz on third base. At the end of the fifth inning, the Warriors were leading 7-1.
The Eagles Matt Carter hit two solo home runs, one in the bottom of the fifth inning and the other in the bottom of the seventh, to bring Trinity Baptist to 7-3 behind Southern Wesleyan. The Warriors won the game 7-3.
Trinity Baptist jumped out early in the bottom of the first inning on to take a 2-0 lead over Southern Wesleyan. The Warriors fought back in the top of the second inning. Conner Ewing reach first on an error and then advanced to second on a second on a single by Quinton Bent. Then a wild pitch allowed both runners to advance with one out. Noah Fritz walked to load the bases and bring up Ike Thalassinos. Thalassinos walked to allow Ewing to come home and put the Warriors on the board in the second game of the afternoon. With the bases load, John Garrett hit single into shallow right fight to bring Bent home to tie the game.
In the top of the fifth inning, Conner Ewing hit a triple to deep left field. With Quinton Bent at the plate, the Eagles pitcher throw a wild pitch that allowed Ewing to come cross home plate and give the Warriors a 3-2 lead. A walk to Quinton Bent, brought Trey Matthews up to bat. Matthews hit a single to center, and then an error allowed Bent to score and Matthews to reach second. Devin Patrick hit a double to left field to bring Matthews home and give Southern Wesleyan a 5-2 lead. John Garrett walked, and then both Garrett and Patrick stole bases for both to get in scoring position. Andrew Falgiano doubled to left field. With Jesse Getford batting, a passed ball allowed Falgiano to advance to third base. Getford reached first on a walk. With runners at the corners and two out, a ball in the dirt allowed both runners to advance to make the score 8-2. Julio Justo hit a two run home run to left field to bring Getford home and give Southern Wesleyan a 10-2 lead. Conner Ewing followed Justo's long ball with his first home run of the season on a ball on an 0-0 count that went over the left field fence and bring the Warriors lead to 11-2.
Trinity Baptist's Jeremy Reveria double allowed the Eagles to plate two runs to bring the score to 11-4. A three run home run by Matt Carter allowed the Eagles to come to 11-7 behind Southern Wesleyan. Daniel Singleton was able to come in and shut down the side to keep the Eagles from scoring any more runs.
Southern Wesleyan led off top of the sixth inning with a single by Noah Fritz and then stole second to get in scoring position. Steven Perez was hit by a pitch to put runners at first and second with only one out. Andrew Falgiano followed with a double down the left field line to bring Fritz home and put Perez on third. A sacrifice fly out by Jesse Getford allowed Perez to come home to give the Warriors a 13-7 run lead over the Eagles. In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Eagles put another run on the board.
Conner Ewing hit a double to kick off the top of the seventh inning and was brought across home plate on a double by Quinton Bent to push the Warriors lead to 14-8. Trey Matthews followed with a single to then push Bent to third base. Hunter King came in to run for Matthews. A sacrifice fly by AJ Canine allowed Bent to score to give Southern Wesleyan a 15-8 victory.
Southern Wesleyan will next travel to Anderson on February 14 to take on the Trojans at 3 p.m. They will then return to the Conn on February 16 as they take part in a three game series versus University of Virginia-Wise.
