How It Happened

The Tornado attacked first on back-to-back home runs to take a 2-0 lead.  However, Southern Wesleyan countered in the bottom of the second inning.  Devin Patrick led off with a double and then advanced to third on a passed ball.  Andrew Falgiano grounded out to second base to bring Patrick in and put the Warriors down 2-1.

Homers by the Tornado allowed them to push their lead to 6-1 in the top of the third.  The Warriors countered to put another run in the bottom of the third.  Trey Matthews led off with a single and the advanced to second when Julio Justo walked.  A passed ball allowed both Matthews and Justo to move over a base.  Quinton Bent put up a sacrifice fly to allow Matthews to come in and make the score 6-2.

King pushed their lead to 17-2 before the Warriors were able to score again.  In the bottom of the fifth inning, Trey Matthews hit a home run over the right field wall to bring the score to 17-3.

Southern Wesleyan continued to push in the bottom of the seventh.  John Garrett walked to lead off the inning and then advanced to second on a wild pitch.  Trey Matthews followed with a walk and then a walk to Izzy Martinez allowed the bases to load up.  With the bases full of Warriors, Bent doubled to bring both Matthews and Garrett in.  Jesse Getford reached first on an error by the third baseman to bring Martinez across home plate to make the score 17-7.

The Warriors continued to pressure in the bottom of the eighth.  Noah Fritz led off with a walk and then advanced to second when John Garrett grounded out.  Trey Matthews followed with a double to left field that brought Fritz in to score.  However, the Warriors were unable to pull ahead as they fell to the Tornado 19-8.
