Mount Olive, NC – Southern Wesleyan falls in a sweep to the Mount Olive Trojans. The Warriors lost game one 5-2 and game two 12-5.
Southern Wesleyan posted four hits in the game one loss. Trey Matthews and Izzy Martinez each had doubles during the game. Steven Perez and Noah Fritz had the lone RBIs for the Warriors while Matthews and Martinez came in as the lone runs. Jesse Getford led the team with two walks and Fritz had a sacrifice fly. Mike Batten started game one and pitched 4.2 innings while striking out nine batters.
The Warriors recorded nine hits in the game two loss. Izzy Martinez doubled, and Quinton Bent hit a home run. Jesse Getford and Izzy Martinez led the team with two RBIs apiece. Four Warriors walked during the game. TJ McEvilly started game two and struck out five batters while pitching 2.1 innings.

How It Happened
The Trojans took an early 3-0 lead over the Warriors with runs in the first and second innings. In the top of the third inning, Southern Wesleyan countered. Izzy Martinez led off the inning with a double to right center field. He came in to score on a single up the middle by Steven Perez to put the Warriors down 3-1.
In the top of the fourth inning, Trey Matthews reached on a double to left center. Back-to-back walks to Jesse Getford and AJ Canine loaded up the bases. With the bases loaded, Noah Fritz hit a sacrifice fly to center field to allow Matthews to come across home plate and put the Warriors down 3-2.
Mount Olive countered with runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings to win the game 5-2.
Southern Wesleyan jumped out early in the top of the second inning. With two outs, Conner Ewing singled up the middle. Devin Patrick and Noah Fritz followed with back-to-back walks to load up the bases. With the bases loaded, Izzy Martinez doubled to left center to bring Patrick and Ewing across home plate and put the Warriors up 2-0.
In the bottom of the second, the Trojans countered to score four runs to take a 4-2 lead. Quinton Bent hit a solo home run in the top of the third to put the Warriors down 4-3.
Mount Olive continued to pressure the Warriors and put four more runs up on the board. In the top of the fifth inning, the Warriors challenged. John Garrett walked and then a single by Steven Perez advanced Garrett to second. A wild pitch put both runners in scoring position and then a walk to Quinton Bent allowed the Warriors to load up the bases. Jesse Getford hit a two out single to bring Perez and Garrett home to put the Warriors down 5-8.
The Trojans pressured late in the game to win 12-5.
Southern Wesleyan will next travel to Mars Hill to take on the Lions on March 20. They will then return to Dr. C Keith Conner Field on March 23 and 24 as they take on a three game series versus North Greenville.
