Gaffney, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell in the final game of the three game series to the Limestone Saints in a 7-4 final.
Southern Wesleyan posted eight hits in the loss with three Warriors contributing two hits apiece. Izzy Martinez doubled during the game. Trey Matthews and Noah Fritz each homered during the game, with Matthews leading the team with two on the afternoon. Matthews led the team with two RBIs and three runs. Three Warriors walked during the game and Jesse Getford recorded a stolen base.
Southern Wesleyan posted six strikeouts during the game. TJ McEvilly started the final game of the series. McEvilly pitched four innings and struck out two batters. Josh Core came in to pitch in relief and struck out four batters while allowing only one hit.

How It Happened
Limestone jumped out in the bottom of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. However, the Warriors countered in the top of the second inning. Trey Matthews led off the inning with a walk and the advanced to second on a single to left field by Jesse Getford. With two runners on, Julio Justo singled to right center to bring Matthews in and tie the game.
The Saints pushed onward to take a 7-1 run advantage. Southern Wesleyan continued to pressure with solo home runs by Trey Matthews and Noah Fritz in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings, but the Warriors fell in a 7-4 final score.
Southern Wesleyan will return home on April 11 as they take on the Young Harris Mountain Lions. They will conclude their home game of the 2018 season in a three game series versus the Toccoa Falls on April 13-14.
