How It Happened

Game One

The Lions took an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, however the Warriors countered in the top of the second.  Trey Matthews led off with a double to right center and then came in to score when Conner Ewing doubled to left field.  A wild pitch allowed Ewing to advance to third base.  With a runner at third, Devin Patrick singled to bring Ewing home and make it a 3-2 ball game.  Patrick stole second base to get into scoring position.  John Garrett hit a double to center field to bring Patrick in and allow the Warriors to tie the game.  Despite tying the game, the Lions fought back to win the game 6-3.

Game Two

Southern Wesleyan put up the first runs of game two in the top of the fourth inning.  With one out and Andrew Falgiano on first base, Quinton Bent doubled to left field to put runners on the corners.  A single by Trey Matthews allowed both runners to come in to score and give the Warriors a 2-0 run advantage.

The Warriors pushed their lead deeper in the top of the fifth inning.  Steven Perez led off with a single down the left field line and then advanced to second on a wild pitch.  With one on, John Garrett singled to advance Perez to third.  Garrett then advanced on a wild pitch and then Izzy Martinez reached on a walk to load up the bases.  A wild pitch allowed Perez to come in and score and put the Warriors on top 3-0.

Emmanuel came back to tie the game at three in the bottom of the fifth inning.  The game remained scoreless after the ninth to force extra innings.  In the bottom of the 10th inning, the Lions scored on a sacrifice fly to win the game 4-3.
