Coach Gillespie says…

"Aaron Bennett pitched really well tonight and Daniel Singleton came in to close out the game.  It was good to see our staff come to the park with some intent, fire and desire to rebound after last weekend.  They worked really hard this week, and we expect the same tomorrow.  It took us awhile to get the bats going, but the big inning in the seventh helped secure the win.  Anxious to see how we respond tomorrow to finish the series."

How It Happened

Trinity Baptist took an early lead over Southern Wesleyan in the third inning.  Aaron Bennett and the Warriors defense shut down the Eagles offense after that as Bennett pitched three consecutive scoreless innings.

The Warriors would not let the Eagles early lead stop them as they fought back in the seventh inning.  Jarred Jones was hit by a pitch to lead off and then advanced to second on a walk to Conner Ewing.  With two on, Devine Patrick doubled to deep right center to bring Jones in.  Sawyer Price hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Ewing from third and advance Patrick.  With one on, Bryson Fowler singled to right to score Patrick.  Ty King Richard reached on a bunt single and the Timo Schau reached on a walk to load the bases.  With the bases loaded and one out, Julio Justo singled to third to bring in one run.  For his second at bat of the inning, Jarred Jones doubled to deep right center, bring Richards and Schau home.  With the bases full of Warriors, Devin Patrick singled to bring in Justo and Jones.  Southern Wesleyan's offense continued to challenge the Eagles as Sawyer Price reached first on a dropped fly ball to bring home Ewing and Patrick.  A double by DJ Ludwick brought Price home and put the Warriors on top of the Eagles 11-2.

The Warriors struck again in the top of the ninth.  With two outs, Sawyer Price singled to right.  DJ Ludwick followed with a walk to put two runners on and bring Ty King Richards up to bat.  King Richards hit a single to right to bring Price in.  A single by Timo Schau brought Ludwick across the plate and give the Warriors a 13-2 victory.
