Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan picked up the sweep against Virginia-Wise on Saturday as they defeated the Cavaliers in an 8-0 final score.
The Warriors delivered 11 hits in the victory over the Cavaliers with Jarred Jones, Tanner Glass and DJ Ludwick each recording two hits. Jones led the team with two doubles, followed by Timo Schau and DJ Ludwick each with one double. Quinton Bent hit a triple. Jones and Bent each had two of the seven RBIs. The Warriors posted seven stolen bases with Tanner Glass leading the team with four, followed by Devin Patrick with two and Ludwick with one.
Southern Wesleyan had eight strikeouts during the game and only allowed six hits. Josh Antwine picked up his first win as he started for the Warriors. Antwine pitched seven scoreless inning while striking out seven and only walking one batter. Cole Standifer came in to pitch in relief for the Warriors and struck out one.

How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan took an early lead as Jarred Jones doubled and then advanced to third on a single by Tanner Glass. Glass stole second base to put runners at second and third with only one out. A single by Julio Justo allowed Jones to score and put Southern Wesleyan ahead 1-0.
Josh Antwine continued to shut down the Cavaliers, getting several of them to fly out or striking out the side. The Warriors extended their lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. Tanner Glass led off with a single and then stole second base. A triple by Quinton Bent brought Glass in to put the Warriors ahead 2-0. With Bent on second, Bryson Fowler walked to put runners on the corners. DJ Ludwick singled to bring in Bent and put Southern Wesleyan up 3-0.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Timo Schau reached on a double down the left field line and then a walk by Jarred Jones put two on. With two on and no one out, Tanner Glass was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Julio Justo and Quinton Bent hit back-to-back sacrifice flies to bring both Schau and Jones in and give the Warriors a 5-0 lead. Tanner Glass stole third base to put a runner within ninety feet from home. Devin Patrick followed with a walk to put runners at the corners. Both runners moved up ninety feet on stolen bases to bring Glass in and give the Warriors a 6-0 lead. A single by Bryson Fowler brought in Patrick and put the Warriors up 7-0.
Southern Wesleyan will next travel to Benedict College to take on the Tigers on February 19 at 1 p.m. They will then return to Dr. C Keith Connor Field as they host the Emmanuel College Lions on February 22 and 23. The Warriors will host their annual Military Appreciation weekend prior to the games on February 23.
