Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan walks it off in the ninth inning, overcoming a seven run deficient to defeat the Emmanuel Lions 16-15.
The Warriors recorded 14 hits in the game with five Warriors recording two hits apiece. Three Warriors had doubles in the game, and Julio Justo and Quinton Bent each had home runs. Quinton Bent and Tanner Glass led the team with four RBIs each. They were followed by Sawyer Price with three RBIs and Julio Justo with two. Of the Warriors sixteen runs of the game, three Warriors recorded three runs apiece. Jarred Jones led the team with three of the eight walks of the afternoon.
Southern Wesleyan had 11 strikeouts during the victory over Emmanuel. Aaron Bennett started the first game of the series, lasting 4.1 innings while striking out six. Cole Standifer and TJ McEvilly came in to pitch in relief, combining for five strikeouts. McEvilly picked up his first win of the season.

How It Happened
The Lions retaliated in the top of the fifth inning as Jorge Villalobes singled and then came in to score on a double by DeMetrious Foster. Emmanuel continued to rally past the Warriors as they put up 10 runs in the inning to take a 10-2 lead over Southern Wesleyan.
Southern Wesleyan fought back in the bottom of the fifth inning as Ty King Richards led off with a walk. He advanced to third base on a double down the left field line by Timo Schau. With two on and one out, King Richards came in to score on a passed ball. Julio Justo followed with a walk to put runners at the corners. Tanner Glass grounded out to third for the second out of the inning, but Schau was able to come in to score to put the Warriors down 4-10.
Emmanuel put three more runs on the board in the top of the seventh inning, however the Warriors countered in the bottom of the inning to cut their lead by three. With two outs, Tanner glass walked and then advanced to third on a double to left field by Julio Justo. Quinton Bent hit a three run to deep left field to put the Warriors down 7-13.
With two out in the bottom of the eighth inning, Ty King Richards singled up the middle and then advance to second as Timo Schau walked. Julio Justo followed with a walk to load the bases and bring Tanner Glass up to bat. Glass was hit by a pitch to walk in a run and put the Warriors down 13-8.
Emmanuel continued to battle, putting two more runs on the board in the top of the ninth inning. However, the Warriors would not let being down seven runs dampen their spirits. Quinton Bent led off the bottom of the eighth with a walk and then advanced to second base as Sawyer Price singled to left field. With two on, Sean Sutay singled to load the bases. DJ Ludwick hit into a fielder's choice that brought Bent in to score and put runners at the corners. Ty King Richards singled to bring Price in, and then a ground out by Timo Schau put runners at second and third. With two on and two out, Jarred Jones walked to load the bases. Tanner Glass singled up the middle to bring King Richards and Ludwick in. Back-to-back hit by pitches to Conner Ewing and Quinton Bent brought Jones in to put the Warriors down 15-13. Sawyer Price came up to the plate for the second time in the inning and doubled to right field to bring Bent, Kole Rogers and Glass in and win the game 16-15.
Southern Wesleyan will remain at Dr. C Keith Connor Field on Monday, February 25 as they conclude the three game series against the Emmanuel Lions at 1 and 3:30 p.m. They will then hit the road as they take on the Newberry Wolves on February 27.
