Coach Gillespie says…

"We got a quality start from Josh Antwine and good work out of the pen from Josh Core.  It's good to see our pitching staff have back-to-back outings with the start and relief.  Some key hits provided the spark we needed and Quinton Bent delivered the big hits this afternoon at the plate.  We just need to realize what our game is and strive each day to maximize our effort."

How It Happened

Toccoa Falls struck first as a passed ball brought Brandon Tamayo in and then a single by Jack Kraus brought in Joey Allen to put the Screaming Eagles ahead 2-0 in the bottom of the first inning.  Southern Wesleyan countered in the top of the second inning to challenge.  Quinton Bent hit a deep home run to center field to put the Warriors down 2-1.

The Warriors took the lead in the top of the fifth inning.  With one out, DJ Ludwick was hit by a pitch and then advanced to second base on a passed ball.  Timo Schau followed with a walk.  With runners at first and second, Jarred Jones hit a home run to right field to bring both Ludwick and Schau in and put the Warriors ahead 4-2.  Toccoa Falls countered in the bottom of the fifth inning to make the score 4-3.

Southern Wesleyan extended their lead in the top of the eighth inning.  Tanner Glass led off, reaching first base on a hit by pitch.  With Glass on first, Quinton Bent hit his second home run of the afternoon, this time to left field to give the Warriors a 6-3 victory.
