Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan split the final two games of the three game series against the University of Mount Olive Trojans. The Warriors took game one in a 9-5 final score, and then the Trojans took game two in 10-innings in a 4-3 final.
Southern Wesleyan posted six hits in game one of the afternoon with Bryson Fowler leading the team with two. Both Fowler and Quinton Bent had doubles during the game. Devin Patrick led the team with four of the nine RBIs. He was followed by Bent and Julio Justo both two hits. Southern Wesleyan had four walks during the game with Conner Ewing leading the team with two walks. Sean Sutay had a sacrifice bunt, and both Justo and Bent had sacrifice flies in the game. Ty King Richards had the lone stolen base of the game. Jarred Jones started game one and pitched five innings while striking out four batters. TJ McEvilly came in to pitch in relief pitching and struck out two batters.
The Warriors had nine hits in game two of the afternoon. Tanner Glass, Devin Patrick and Sawyer Price each recorded two hits during the game. Patrick and Price both had doubles. Three Warriors had RBIs during the game. Timo Schau led the team with two of the three walks. Jackson Fischer started game two of the afternoon. Fischer pitched seven innings while striking out nine batters. Josh Core and Daniel Singleton came in to pitch in relief for the Warriors.

How It Happened
The Warriors attacked early in the first inning. Timo Schau got on first base on an error by the second baseman. A fielder's choice allowed Bryson Fowler to reach first, but an error by the shortstop allowed Schau to advance to third base. With two on and no one out, Julio Justo singled up the middle to allow Scahu to come in to score and give the Warriors a 1-0 lead. Tyler Fuller followed with a walk to load up the bases and bring up Quinton Bent. Bent hit a sacrifice fly to center field that advanced Fuller and Justo and allowed Fowler to come in. A ground out by Devin Patrick brought Justo in to give the Warriors a 3-0 run advantage.
Mount Olive countered in the top of the second inning to plate one run, but Jarred Jones and the Warriors defense kept the Trojans to just one run. However, the Trojans continued to fight, bringing another run across to make the score 3-2.
The Warriors continued to battle in the bottom of the third inning. Bryson Fowler led off with a single up the middle and then advanced to second on a single through the left side by Tyler Fuller. Quinton Bent hit a deep double to left field to bring Fowler in, and a ground out by Devin Patrick allowed Fuller to come in and put the Warriors up 5-2.
Southern Wesleyan struck again in the bottom of the fourth inning. Sean Sutay reached first on a hit by pitch and then advanced to second base as Timo Schau reached on an error by the first baseman. With two on and no one out, Bryson Fowler doubled to score Sutay and advance Schau to third base. A sacrifice fly to center field by Julio Justo allow Scahu to come in and put the Warriors on top 7-2. Ty King Richards walked and Fowler advanced to third on a passed ball that put runners on the corners with one out. King Richards stole second to put both runners in scoring position with two outs and bring Devin Patrick up to bat. Patrick singled through the left side to bring both King Richards and Fowler to give the Warriors a 9-2 lead. Southern Wesleyan went on to win game one of the afternoon 9-5.
Mount Olive took a 3-0 lead on home runs by Junior Snow and Gunner Tolston in the second game of the afternoon.
The Warriors fought back in the bottom of the ninth inning. Devin Patrick led off with a walk. The next two batters flew out to put two outs on the board. With one on and two outs, Sawyer Price doubled to right center to bring Patrick in and put the Warriors down 3-1. Jarred Jones followed and singled to left center to bring Price home and then a balk allowed Jones to advance to second. With Jones in scoring position, Timo Schau singled to allow Jones to come in and tie the game 3-3.
The Trojans battled back in the top of the tenth inning as a single by Junior Snow allowed Stone to come in and win the game 4-3.
Southern Wesleyan will remain at home on April 9 as they host the Truett-McConnell Bears. They will travel to Anderson to take on the Trojans on April 10. The Warriors will then return to Dr. C Keith Connor Field as they host the Limestone Saints on April 12-13.
