"Once again our guys believed in each other and pulled out a great team win.  We kept pace until the very end and had some key at bats in the final inning.  The series is one game in and our focus must be on a complete weekend."

How It Happened

The Limestone Saints struck early in the first game of the series, bringing two runs across home in both the fourth and fifth innings.  However, the Warriors defense and Josh Antwine kept them off the board after the fifth.

Southern Wesleyan began to chip away at the Saints lead in the sixth inning.  With one out, Tanner Glass reached first on catcher's interference and then advanced to second on a single to center field by Tyler Fuller.  With two outs and two on, Conner Ewing singled to bring Glass in and put the Warriors down 4-1.

The Warriors continued to put the pressure on in the bottom of the eighth inning.  With two out, Tyler Fuller reached first on an error by the shortstop.  Fuller advanced to second when Quinton Bent walked.  Conner Ewing singled allowing Fuller to score, and then an error by the pitcher allowed Bent to come home and advanced Ewing to second.  Devin Patrick hit a deep double to right field to allow Ewing to score and tie the game 4-4.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Sean Sutay led off with a walk and then advanced to second as Timo Schau reached first on a throwing error by the catcher.  With two on and one out, Julio Justo doubled to deep right center field to allow Sutay to score and win the game 5-4.
