How It Happened
Limestone started strong in the first game of the day as a home run by Whetsell allowed them to take a 1-0 lead in the first inning. They continued to push around the Warriors pitching to score five runs in the second and win the game 6-0.
The Saints took the lead in the third inning as they plated two runs. However, the Warriors countered in the bottom of the third inning. Sean Sutay led off the first with a bunt single and then advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Timo Schau. A wild pitch allowed Sutay to get ninety feet from home. With one on and one out, Jarred Jones walked to put runners on the corners. Julio Justo hit a ground out to second base, but Sutay was able to score to put Southern Wesleyan down 2-1.
The Warriors tied the game in the bottom of the fourth inning. Devin Patrick led off with a double down the left field line and then Conner Ewing walked to put two on base with no outs. DJ Ludwick hit a sacrifice bunt that allowed both Patrick and Ewing to advance a base. Timo Schau was hit by a pitch to load the bases. With the bases loaded and two outs, Jarred Jones walked to bring Patrick in and allow the Warriors to tie the game 2-2.
Limestone continue to pressure the Southern Wesleyan defense, bringing three more runs in to win the game 5-2.
