Hickory, NC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears in an 83-52 final on Tuesday evening.
Southern Wesleyan recorded 52 points in the loss to the Bears on Tuesday. The Warriors were led by sophomore Jalen Lowery with 14 points. Lowery was followed by DJ Dobson with eight points. Lowery went on to lead the team with seven of the 26 rebounds. Nine Warriors recorded assists in the loss.

How It Happened
The Lenoir-Rhyne Bears jumped out early on a layup by Jonathan Jean, but the Warriors countered on a layup by Jalen Lowery off a pass by Zalan Richards. Lenoir-Rhyne took the lead as Dijibril Diallo put in back-to-back three point shots to take a 12-6 point lead over Southern Wesleyan. The Bears defense silenced the Warriors and kept them off the board until a three point shot by Christian McLean made the score 19-9. Lamont Smith sunk a three point shot to put Southern Wesleyan down 12-21 to Lenoir-Rhyne. The Bears continued to challenge the Warriors as Jonathan Jean and Davion Bradford each put the ball in the net to put Lenoir-Rhyne up 28-12. Lenoir-Rhyne pressed ahead to lead 43-22 at the half.
Southern Wesleyan scored the first points of the second half with a layup by Jalen Lowery to put the Warriors down 25-48. The Lenoir-Rhyne Bears continued to press ahead, taking a thirty point advantage on a three point shot by Mason Hawks. DJ Dobson made a layup to put Southern Wesleyan down 32-64, but the Bears countered with baskets by Emmanuel Wembi and Djibril Diallo to extend their lead to 69-32. Despite layups by Dobson and Jalen Lowery, the Warriors fell to the Bears 83-52.
Southern Weslyean will next take on the North Georgia Nighthawks on November 17 at 8 p.m. They will then return to Historic Tysinger Gymnasium on November 20th to take on the Coker Cobras at 7:30 p.m. Southern Wesleyan will then play an exhibition game at Furman University on November 21st at 6:30 p.m.
