Coach Pasqua says…

"I thought our guys played really hard and well for half of the game tonight.  We have to continue to battle and get better each day, and learn how to put two halves together."

How It Happened

Mars Hill scored the first point of the game on a free throw by JaShawn Brooks, however the Warriors countered to take a 3-1 point lead on a three point shot by Lamont Smith.  The lead was short lived as Brooks made a layup to tie the game 3-3.  Diego Poore made a jump shot to give the Warriors a 5-3 point advantage, but a dunk by Nassyr Daniel tied the game at five.  The Lions continued to pressure the Warriors with baskets by Daniel and Austin Stone to take a four point lead, but Southern Wesleyan pressured right back as Poore sunk a three point shot to put the Warriors down one.  Southern Wesleyan regained the lead on baskets by Javon Hunter and Zalan Richards to make the score 13-11.  The Warriors lengthened their lead to 16-13 on a three point shot by Jeremy Wert.  Mars Hill continued to pressure, but a layup by Christian McLean gave the Warriros a 21-19 point lead.  Shots by Issac Ford and Zalan Richards put the Warriors on top 25-21, and then a three point shot by Christian McLean gave the Warriors a 29-21 point advantage.  Southern Wesleyan continued to push ahead and were up 39-31 at half.

Mars Hill started strong in the second half as Ja'Shawn Brooks made a three point shot to put them down 34-39.  Despite the early start by the Lions, Southern Wesleyan took an eight point lead on a three point shot by Jalen Lowery.  The Lions continued to pressure back as Brooks and Austin Gilyard made shots to cut Southern Wesleyans lead to 40-45.  Mars Hill took the lead on a three point shot by Gilyard, but the Warriors challenged back with a three point shot by Lamont Smith to cut the Lions lead to 51-50.  The Warriors would not be discouraged though as Jalen Lowery made back-to-back three point shots to put Southern Wesleyan down 58-56.  Lamont Smith stole the ball away from the Lions and passed it up to Jalen Lowery who put up a layup to put the Warriors within three points of Mars Hill.  The Warriors continue to fight back as Issac Ford rebounded a three point shot by McLean and put it in to put Southern Wesleyan down 62-64.  Southern Wesleyan continued to challenge, but Mars Hill went on to win the game in a 76-67 final score.
