How It Happened

The Crusaders struck first in the contest with a 3-pointer from Daniel Burchette, but the Warriors quickly responded with a 3-pointer from Lamont Smith. Smith went on to make back-to-back 3-pointers before the Crusaders could answer. North Greenville gained the lead on a layup from Kovi Tate to go up 12-11 and the Warriors fought to regain the lead. Southern Wesleyan was able to come within two after a made 3-pointer from Diego Poore, but still trailed 22-24. Lamont Smith made another 3-pointer to pull ahead before the Crusaders tied it back up. Despite a late rally, the Crusaders were up 31-28 at the half.

North Greenville came out firing in the second half until 3-pointers from Jalen Lowery and Jeremy Wert gave the Warriors some momentum trailing 39-43. Both teams rallied back and forth, and the Warriors were able to gain the lead on a 3-pointer from Wert. Lowery answered with a layup to give some cushion at 48-45. The Crusaders refused to give up and took the lead back on a dunk from Tate. Shots were made on both ends and the score was tied at the end of regulation time.

The Warriors and Crusaders went into overtime and the Warriors were able to score first after an NGU turnover. SWU now led 66-63. Roderick Howell answered with a jump shot for the Crusaders, but tough defense from the Warriors was able to hold them and they went on to win their first game this season 66-65.
