Warriors Fall to Trojans

Anderson, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Anderson Trojans in an 87-61 final on Wednesday afternoon.

The Warriors shot 36.4% from the field in the loss to the Trojans on Wednesday.  Jalen Lowery led the team with 18 points.  Jacob Smith led the team with five of the eleven assists of the game.  Southern Wesleyan recorded 32 rebounds with Jeremy leading the team with seven.  Bryson Williams led the team with three steals.

How It Happened

The Anderson Trojans took an early lead on a three point jump shot by Andrew Boynton, but a jump shot by Jalen Lowery put the Warriors on the board behind the Trojans 2-3.  The Trojans rallied ahead to take a 13-4 point lead over the Warriors.  Southern Wesleyan continued to press on as Christian McLean made a layup and Jeremy Wert made back-to-back three point shots to put the Warriors down 15-21.  The Trojans took a 21-point lead at half on a layup by Boynton to make the score 51-30.

Southern Wesleyan kicked off the second half with back-to-back jump shots by Zalan Richards and Diego Poore to put the Warriors down 34-52.  Anderson continued to push ahead as Jeremy Bouton and Gage Ellis made baskets to make the score 64-36.  The Warriors would not go down quietly as Christian McLean made a layup, and Isaac Ford and Jacob Smith sunk a three point shots to put the Warriors down 26 points to the Trojans.  Despite back-to-back layups by Ford and Jacob Smith, the Warriors fell to the Trojans in a 87-61 final.


What's Next

Southern Wesleyan will next take part in a two week Christmas break before returning to Historic Tysinger Gymnasium on January 2 to take on Catawba at 4 p.m.  They will remain at home on January 5 as they host the Barton Bulldogs at 4 p.m.
