Central, SC - Southern Wesleyan fell to the Erskine Flying Fleet in a 66-63 final on Thursday evening.
Southern Wesleyan shot 43.1% from the field in the loss on Thursday evening. Javon Hunter led the team with 21 points and was followed by Jalen Lowery with 19 points. The Warriors recorded 32 rebounds. Isaac Ford led the team with a career-high 11 rebounds. Diego Poore led the team with six of the 14 assists. Ford had two of the three steals. Poore and Hunter each had one block.

How It Happened
The Flying Fleet answered first in the contest on Thursday evening. Jacob Smith countered with a layup to put the Warriors on the board. Erskine then made a short run before Zalan Richards answered with a layup to trail 4-10. The Fleet pushed on and pressured the Warriors with strong defense but Smith and Jalen Lowery put up shots to cut the lead to five and trail only 18-23. Both teams pushed and late free throws from Lowery put the Warriors down 26-36 at the half.
The Fleet came out quickly in the second half with a jumper from Jordan Watson. Diego Poore answered for the Warriors with a 3-pointer. Southern Wesleyan chipped away at the Fleet's lead and was able to tie it up 45-45 with a layup from Javon Hunter. The Warriors pulled ahead with a 3-pointer from Lowery to give the team their first lead of the game. It was a battle back-and-forth until the Warriors gained a 62-57 lead. The Flying Fleet hit a 3-pointer and made a pair of free throws in the final seconds to pull ahead and win the game 66-63.
Southern Wesleyan will travel to the University of Mount Olive on January 26 to take on the Trojans at 4 p.m. They will then travel to Mars Hill to take on the Lions at 7 p.m.
