Tornado Defeats Southern Wesleyan In Final Game Of Season

Central, SC - Southern Wesleyan fell to the King Tornado in a 68-56 final on Tuesday evening. 

The Warriors shot 31.0% from the field in the loss on Tuesday evening. Senior Javon Hunter led the Warriors with 19 points in his final game. He was followed by Jalen Lowery with 11 points. Southern Wesleyan recorded 28 rebounds. Lowery led the team with 10 and was followed by Senior Zalan Richards with five. Lowery and Diego Poore each had one steal and Hunter had the lone block. Five Warriors posted assists.

How It Happened

Javon Hunter struck first in the contest to put the Warriors ahead 3-0 early on Tuesday evening. The Tornado was able to gain the lead but a jumper from Hunter put the Warriors back on top 9-8. 3-pointers from Hunter and Jacob Smith gave the Warriors the momentum to move ahead 19-15. Zalan Richards added back-to-back layups to increase the lead to 26-23. King tied it up late in the first half, but the Warriors came back to lead 33-32 at the half.

The Tornado jumped out early in the second half to take the lead. King went on a 12-0 run before a layup from Isaac Ford put the Warriors back in the game. Diego Poore added to the Warriors points with back to back shots to trail 41-55. Hunter and Jalen Lowery added made free throws to put the Warriors down only 52-65. Despite a late 3-pointer from Poore, the Tornado went on to win 68-56.
