Central, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan defeats the Barton College Bulldogs in double overtime in a 2-1 final.
The Warriors posted 20 shots with five shots on goal. Four Warriors posted four shots, and Sebastian Castro and Sergio Tapia both had two shots on goal. Sergio Tapia scored both the goals for the Warriors including a penalty kick to win the game for the Warriors. Miguel Uribe played the whole game in the goal for Southern Wesleyan, posting nine saves while allowing only one goal.

How It Happened
Barton struck first, scoring a goal on a shot by Ruben Mancio to take a 1-0 lead over the Warriors. Despite several shots, the Warriors will unable to put the ball in the net until the second half of the game. Within the first ten minutes of the second half, senior Sergio Tapia scored not only the first goal of the game, but his first goal of the season to tie the game 1-1.
With the game tied at one, the Warriors ad Bulldogs went into overtime. The first overtime was intense, but no balls made it into the net. In the second overtime, the Warriors were fouled in the box to force a penalty kick. Sergio Tapia stepped in to take the kick and scored the winning goal for the Warriors.
Southern Wesleyan will remain at home on September 27 where they will take on the Emmanuel College Lions at 7 p.m. They will then travel on September 30 to Banner Elk, North Carolina where they will take on the Lees-McRae Bobcats at 4:15 p.m.
