Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan and Emmanuel draw in Conference Carolina action on Wednesday evening in a 1-1 final.
The Warriors posted 16 shots and six shots on goal. Grant Kiker led the team with five shots. Kiker went on to lead the team with three shots on goal. Sergio Tapia scored the lone goal for the Warriors on a penalty kick. Miguel Uribe played the whole game in goal, recording eight saves while allowing only one goal.

How It Happened
Emmanuel took the first shot on goal, but it was blocked to keep the Lions from putting points on the board first. Grant Kiker and the Warriors drove the ball down the field, making several shots that were saved by Andy Dunnett. Despite a heavy pressing defense, the Lions scored the first goal of the game on a shot by Blair Springhall.
Southern Wesleyan came back from half time, striking several shots, but none of them finding the net. With the intensity of the game rising, a foul in the box by Emmanuel allowed the Warriors to gain a penalty kick. Sergio Tapia took the kick for the Warriors to allow Southern Wesleyan to tie the game 1-1.
Southern Wesleyan and Emmanuel went into double overtime, but neither the Warriors of the Lions were able to get the ball around the defense to end the game in a 1-1 tie.
Southern Wesleyan will next travel to Banner Elk, North Carolina to take on the Lees-McRae Bobcats at 4:15 p.m. They will then return home to take on the Francis Marion Patriots on October 4 at 7 p.m. The Warriors will remain at home to take on John Wesley on October 7 at 7 p.m. and celebrate Senior Night.
