How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan went to the ball strong with senior Juan Sebastian Castro making a shot on the goal just minutes into the start of the game, however the Flying Fleet goalkeeper Mikael Varin had eyes on the ball and kept it from entering the net.  Erskine took a 1-0 lead after twenty minutes of play, lengthening it to 2-0 a mere two minutes later.  The Flying Fleet attacked the ball putting in several shots on the goal, but the Warriors defense kept the Fleet from lengthening their lead any further.  Grant Kiker and Marcel Joseph each took shots on the goal, but the Flying Fleet goal keeper deflected each one.

Down 0-2 at the start of the second half, the Warriors pressured the Fleet, driving the ball down the field.  However, an off-sides call forced the Warriors to retreat from their early push.  The Fleet countered with several shots but the Warriors defense and goal keeper Miguel Uribe kept the ball from finding the net.  Freshman Danny Jaramillo took a shot, but it passed the goal wide, and a header shot by Romanov Jean was grabbed from the air by the Fleet goal keeper.  A foul forced a penalty kick in the Warriors favor.  Senior Sergio Tapia took the kick for the Warriors to score the loan goal and put the final at 2-1.
