Dahlonega, GA – Southern Wesleyan fell to the North Georgia Nighthawks on Wednesday evening in a 2-1 final.
The Warriors put up 11 shots and five shots on goal in the loss to the Nighthawks. Oscan Vanegas led the Warriors with two shots on goal. Ben Baker, Malik Ibrahim and Zack Hargreaves each had one shot on goal. Vanegas went on to score the lone goal for Southern Wesleyan and Grant Kiker had the lone assist in the loss. Miguel Uribe played the whole game in goal for the Warriors and had 13 save while only allowing two goals.

How It Happened
North Georgia challenged Southern Wesleyan early with shots by Gabriel Garcia and Alex Grant. However, the Warriors countered the Nighthawks attacks. Grant Kiker crossed the ball from the left and passed the ball to Oscar Vanegas in the lower right corner to allow Vanegas to put the ball into the net and put the Warriors up 1-0. North Georgia countered just over two minutes later with a goal by Gabriel Garcia to tie the game. The Nighthawks and Warriors went back and forth for ten minutes, but then Alex Grant got the ball into the net to give them a 2-1 victory.
Southern Wesleyan will return to Childs Field on September 19 as they continue Conference Carolinas action against the Erskine Flying Fleet. They will then travel to Chowan to take on the Hawks on September 22.
