Wilson, NC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Barton Bulldogs in a 2-0 final on Monday afternoon.
The Warriors took eight shots with two shots on goal in the loss to the Bulldogs. Caleb Compton and Cale McLarnon took the lone shots on goal for the Warriors. Miguel Uribe played all ninety minutes in goal for Southern Wesleyan and recorded eight saves.

How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan took the first shot of the game off the foot of Malik Ibrahim, but Barton countered with several shots on goal. The Bulldogs struck first as Pol Monells scored his second goal of the season. The Warriors continued to put on the pressure with shots by Caleb Compton and Ben Baker. Barton pushed ahead on a goal by Ruben Mancio off a pass by Pol Monells to take a 2-0 lead over Southern Wesleyan.
The Warriors fought back, taking shots on the goal by Caleb Compton and Grant Kiker, but goalkeeper Francisco Noguera kept Compton's from the net and Kiker's ball went wide to the right. The Barton offense continued to pepper the net with shots, but Miguel Uribe and the Warriors defense kept the ball away. Cale McLarnon took a header shot on the goal, but once again the Bulldogs goalkeeper swept it out of the air to keep the Warriors from scoring. Barton went on to win the game 2-0.
Southern Wesleyan will next play on Saturday, September 29 as they travel to Belmont, NC to take on the Belmont Abbey Crusaders. They will then travel to Franklin Springs, GA to take on the Emmanuel Lions on October 3.
