Central, SC - Southern Wesleyan split their matches on Saturday. The Warriors fell to the Citadel Bulldogs in a 4-2 final and defeated the Mars Hill Lions in a 5-2 final.

"Our men's tennis team had a long day of tennis. We competed against the Citadel at 9 a.m. and lost a hard fought match against a tough team 4-2. We came back in the afternoon and defeated a good Mars Hill team! I am proud of our guys and the way they came back and competed hard after the loss to the Citadel! We are improving like crazy and I'm looking forward to getting closer to our conference matches!"
How It Happened
The Warriors went 2-3 in singles action against the Bulldogs. Leonard Sanders defeated the Citadel's Roy Hobson 6-2 and 7-6. Peter Kovats fell to Jack Pyritz in 6-1 and 7-6 final scores. Sarvesh Maria defeated Noah Nawabi 6-1 and 6-1. Joseph Olatunji fell to Willem van Zyl in 6-1 and 6-2 final scores and Ben Smith fell to Gavin Stewart in 6-1 and 6-2 final scores.
In singles action, Southern Wesleyan went 4-1 against the Lions. Leonard Sanders perfomed well in the #1 spot for the Warriors, defeating Ben Reid 6-4 and 7-6. Peter Kovats defeated Rodrigo Ramos 7-5 and 6-1. Sarvesh Maria defeated Fernando Neto 7-5 and 6-3. Joseph Olatunji defeated Pedro Pinassi 3-6, 6-3, and 10-3. Ben Smith fell to Tom Farman 6-1 and 6-4.
The Warriors went 2-0 in doubles in their second match of the day. Peter Kovats and Leonard Sanders defeated the team of Rodrigo Ramos and Ben Reid in a 6-4 final and Sarvesh Maria and Joseph Olatunji defeated Fernando Neto and Kyrel Trim in a 6-1 final.
Southern Wesleyan will host the USC Sumter Fireants on March 8 at 4 p.m. They will then resume conference play against the Barton Bulldogs on March 22 at 3 p.m.
