Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan broke several school records while hosting the annual Susan Rouse Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
How It Happened
100 Meters : Nick Edwards led the Warriors in the 100 meters, taking third with a time of 11.01. Teammate Jannai Maxwell was seconds behind him with a finish of 11.07 to claim fourth place. Derrick White Jr took sixth with an 11.09 time.
400 Meters : Dymitric Ray claimed first place in the men's 400 meters. The freshman crossed the line with 48.69 on the clock.
4 x 400 Meter Relay : Southern Wesleyan took third with a time of 3:29.40.
High Jump : Sophomore Johnny Bogert took first in the men's high jump with a jump of 1.80 meters.
Triple Jump : Southern Wesleyan took first and fifth place in the triple jump. Javon Barmore claimed second with a jump of 14.33. Teammate Raymond Simmons followed with a jump of 13.91 to take fifth.
Shot Put : Three Warriors landed in the top 10 in the shot put during the Susan Rouse Invitational. Sophomore Keauntai Robinson led the field with a fourth place finish with a throw of 12.39.
Discus : Christian Swindle led the Warriors in the discus, taking second with a throw of 38.56. Swindle was followed by Keauntai Robinson. Robinson threw a distanced of 36.18 to claim third place.
Hammer Throw : Sophomore Jake Wicks crushed his previous school record in the hammer throw. His throw of 47.27 allowed him to claim first place. Keauntai Robinson took second for the Warriors with a throw of 44.80.
Javelin : Johnny Bogert took third place in the javelin with a throw of 45.38
Southern Wesleyan will next split up the squad on April 13 and 14. Members of the team will compete in the Tiger Track Classic, Beynon Sports Catamount Classic and Gamecock Invitational.
