Cullowhee, NC – Solid performances and season bests lead Warriors to several top ten finishes in Catamount Classic.
How It Happened
100 Meters : Nick Edwards took sixth in the men's 100 meter dash with a time of 10.84.
200 Meters : Two Warriors placed in the top 10 of the men's 200 meter dash. Jannai Maxwell took seventh with a time of 21.89 and Derrick Whtie, Jr. followed with a time of 22.08 to put him in 10th.
Discus : Christian Swindle threw a distance of 26.93m in the discus which put him in 12th place in the event.
Hammer Throw : Keauntai Robinson finished in the top 10 in the hammer throw. Robinson's throw of 43.62m put him in ninth place. He was followed by Jake Wicks with a throw of 42.46m to claim 11th.
Javelin : Sophomore Johnny Bogert landed a sixth place finish with a javelin throw of 45.82m.
200 Meters : Amy Barton took fifth in the 200 meter with a time of 24.90. Freshman Destiny Massey just missed out on being in the top ten with a time of 25.30 to take 11th.
400 Meters : Kayla Achenbach and Shavon Fields each finished in the top 10 of the 400 Meter Dash. Achenbach took ninth with a time of 59.56 while Fields claimed 10th with a time of 59.86.
800 Meters : Hayley Singletary took 11th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:22.49.
400 Meter Hurdles : Sophomore Jami Lewis took fourth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.59. Teammate Keyanna Williams barely finished outside of the top 10, taking 12th with a time of 1:08.81.
Southern Wesleyan will next compete on the USC Open in Columbia, South Carolina on April 21. This will be their final meet before the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Track and Field Championship on April 27-28.
