Johnson City, TN – Southern Wesleyan competed in their first meet of the 2019 year on Friday and Saturday with several guys placing within the top twenty-five in their events.
How It Happened
60 Meters : Jannai Maxwell led the Warriors in the 60 meters with a time of 7.23 to take 1st place.
200 Meters : Dymitric Ray led the pack in the 200 meters, taking 10th with a time of 22.37. He was followed by Jannai Maxwell in 22nd place with a time of 22.86. Thomas Williams followed Maxwell in 33rd place with a time of 23.34. Mychael Lipscomb finished in 40th with a time of 23.76.
400 Meters : Dymitric Ray led the Warriors in the 400 meters with a time of 50.43 to take third place. Ray was followed by Shonquez Caldwell with a time of 50.69 to take fourth place. Thomas Williams took 8th place with a time of 51.24. Mychael Lipscomb took 13th place with a time of 52.04 and Jacob Harris took 28th place with a time of 53.13.
800 Meters :In the 800 meters, Konnor Palacios took 1st place with a time of 2:07.51.
3000 Meters : In the 3000 meters, Freshman Peyton Shelton broke a school record and finished in 20th place with a time of 9:16.77. He was followed by Konnor Palacios who took 31st place with a time of 10:04.49. Mason Sims took 34th place with a time of 10:20.86. Josiah Turner took 35th place with a time of 11:06.17.
60 Meter Hurdles : In preliminaries, Leonard Holmes took 6th place with a time of 8.59.
Weight Throw : Keuntrai Robinson also broke the school record by taking 8th place with a distance of 14.28 meters in the weight throw. Christian Swindle followed him with a distance of 11.16 meters and took 20th place.
Southern Wesleyan will travel to the University of South Carolina to compete in the Gamecock Inaugural on January 18 and 19. They will then return to USC to compete in the Carolina Challenge on February 1 and 2.
