Central, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan puts runs on the board but cannot rise above Limestone Saints in doubleheader sweep. The Saints won game one 9-1 and game two 10-2.
In game one the Warriors posted four hits. Lizzie Fela posted a double and Alex Oliver had the only RBI of the game. Sara Sweatt, Becca White, and Maddie Ward each had a stolen base in the loss. Josie Edwards started game one for the Warriors and went 3.1 innings while facing 25 batters. Hunter Hoskins came in in relief and threw 2.2 innings while allowing four hits and facing 12 batters.
Sara Sweatt and Lizzie Fela led the Warriors for game two in hits with two apiece. Fela also led the team in RBI's with two. Fela hit her eighth home run of the season over the left field wall. Shelby Stroud and Fela both hit doubles in the game. Sweatt led the Warriors in stolen bases, stealing three throughout the game. Natalie Johnson started the second game for the Warriors and went four innings while striking out four batters.

How It Happened
The Saints were quick to start the first game when Hill brought Maybry home. They took a 3-0 lead over Southern Wesleyan in the top of the third when Hill brought Faucette and Maybry home on a sacrifice fly out.
The Warriors got on the board in the bottom of the third to challenge the Saints. Sara Sweatt bunted a single to get on base and then went on to steal second. Lizzie Fela followed with a walk. With runners on first and second, Alex Oliver singled to left center to bring Sweatt home to make the score 3-1.
In the top of the fourth, Limestone extended their lead when Maybry hit an inside the park home run to bring Shelton home. They went to win game one in the sixth inning 9-1 on the run rule.
The Saints scored first again in game two. In the top of the first inning, Limestone took a 1-0 lead over Southern Wesleyan on a double by Swearingen to bring Faucette home. They lengthened their lead to 6-0 in the second inning.
Down by six, the Warriors countered in the bottom of the third inning. Sara Sweatt singled on a bunt and then stole second to put a runner in scoring position with Lizzie Fela coming up to bat. Fela drilled a two-run home run down the left field line to put Southern Wesleyan on the board down 6-2 to the Saints.
However, Limestone extended their lead in the top of the fourth scoring three runs on a sacrifice fly, single, and double to give them a 9-2 lead. They went on to win game two in a final score of 10-2.
The Warriors will be at Varsity Field on Saturday, March 25 when they take on the Converse Valkyries at 1 and 3 pm. They take the road to Lander and play the Lander Bearcats on Tuesday, March 28 at 5 and 7 pm.
