How It Happened

Game One

Claflin struck first to score three runs in the bottom of the first inning.  They added to their lead in bottom of the second and fourth inning to win game one in an 8-0 final score.

Game Two

Southern Wesleyan attacked hard in the top of the second inning.  Natalie Johnson led off the inning with a single to the shortstop and then advanced to second when Hunter Hoskins walked.  Micah Williams came in to pinch run for Hoskins.  Riley Herdliska moved both runners up a base pad on a sacrifice bunt.  With both runners in scoring position, a passed ball allowed Natalie Johnson to score and moved Micah Williams to third.  Kassidy Hamrick followed with a walk and then stole second base.  Becca White grounded out to second base, but her ground out allowed Williams to score to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead.

In the bottom of the fourth, Claflin's Givens singled to drive in a run to come to 2-1 behind Southern Wesleyans.  Maddie Ward led off the top of the fifth inning with a walk and then went on to steal second base.  Makaila Irby reached on a fielding error that also allowed Ward to reach third.  Grace McGuffin came in to run for Irby.  With runners at the corners, Megan New reached first on a fielding error to allow Ward to score to give the Warriors a 3-1 victory over the Panthers.
