Dahlonega, GA – Southern Wesleyan was sept by the North Georgia Nighthawks on Wednesday evening. They lost game one 9-1 and game two 11-0.
Southern Wesleyan posted four hits in the game one loss. Maddie Ward led the team with two hits on the afternoon. Senior Michaela Wickham had the lone RBI of the afternoon when her singled brought Grace McGuffin across home as the lone run for the Warriors. Ward had a stolen base during the game. Josie Edwards pitched the while game for the Warriors and struck out one batter.
Southern Wesleyan was unable to put up a hit in the game two loss. Lexi Thompson had the lone walk of the afternoon. Hunter Hoskins started game two and struck out two while pitching three innings. Senior Lucy Wolff came in to pitch in relief.

How It Happened
North Georgia struck first in the first and then lengthened their lead to the 9-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning of the game.
Southern Wesleyan countered in the top of the fifth inning. With two outs, Josie Edwards singled to left center. Grace McGuffin came in to pinch run for Edwards. With a runner at first, Michaela Wickham singled to right center to bring McGuffin in. Despite the run, the Warriors fell 9-1 in game one.
The Nighthawks took an early lead in the first. They went on to score in the second and third inning and won the game 11-0.
Southern Wesleyan will return to Varsity Field on April 6 as they take on the Belmont Abbey Crusaders. They will then travel to the University Mount Olive to take on the Trojans at 3 and 5 p.m. on April 13.
