Game Vitals

Game One Final: Erskine 5, Southern Wesleyan 4

Game Two Final: Southern Wesleyan 5, Erskine 1

Coach Adkins Says...

"First, I want to acknowledge Erskine and the resilience they showed to win the first game in the bottom of the 7th. It was truly a great softball game, and we were just unfortunately on the losing side of the scorebaord. However, I thought what we did in game two showed a tremendous amount of guts on our part. To come back right after a tough loss and get a quality win against a very good team and a very good pitcher took a lot of character and togetherness. Our defense played well and Ashton pitched a great game. Offensively, Delaney Byers and Taylor Le drove in runs and Taylor and Emma really created some opportunities with their speed."

How It Happened

Game One

The Warriors struck first in the contest against the Flying Fleet with a solo home run from Addie Nugent to take an early 1-0 lead. The Fleet countered in the bottom of the first inning with a home run of their own and tied the game 1-1.

Emma Collins led-off the third inning with a walk. She was able to steal both second and third to be put in scoring position. Taylor Le followed with a single to left field to score Collins and give the Warriors the 2-1 lead over Erskine.

In the top of the fifth inning, Le led-off with a double to center field and would go on to score after a single from Nugent followed. Nugent would go on to score after a single from Delaney Byers and Byers would take advantage of the Flying Fleet error to position herself at second base. The Warriors were unable to add anymore runs in the fifth, but led 4-1. The Fleet answered with one run in the bottom of the inning to trail 4-2 going into the top of the sixth.

Erskine came back in the bottom of the seventh inning to win game one 5-4.

Game Two

Delaney Byers kicked off the top of the first inning with a two-run homerun to put the Warriors ahead early 2-0.

In the top of the fourth inning, the Warriors struck again. Kali Berrigan reached base first on a double to center field. Berrigan advanced to third on a groundout from Ashton Martin. Emma Collins then came up to bat and singled to score Berrigan. Collins advanced to second on a passed ball and then advanced to third on a single from Taylor Le. Collins scored on a wild pitch that moved Le over to third, and then Le took advantage of the opportunity to steal home. The Warriors led 5-0. The Flying Fleet answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the fourth to trail 5-1.
