Central, SC - Southern Wesleyan swept the Mount Olive Trojans on Saturday afternoon in 8-1 and 4-3 final scores.
The Warriors had 10 hits in the game one win over the Mount Olive Trojans. Addie Nugent led the team with three hits. She was followed by Delaney Byers, Lydia Clanton and Megan New with two hits, while Lexi Thompson contributed one. Nugent also collected three RBIs out of the team's seven total RBIs. The Warriors drew seven walks. Nugent and Clanton each posted a home run in the win. Five players had stolen bases. Southern Wesleyan posted one strikeout, coming from starting pitcher, Delanie Laudenbacher. Laudenbacher pitched the complete game for the Warriors.
In game two, Southern Wesleyan posted seven hits in the win in game two. Lydia Clanton led the team with two hits. Delaney Byers, Megan New, Kali Berrigan, Makaila Irby and Grace McGuffin each had one hit. Clanton also picked up two RBIs, while Berrigan and McGuffin grabbed one apiece. The Warriors drew three walks. Byers, Clanton and McGuffin all collected doubles in the win. Taylor Le had the lone stolen base. Southern Wesleyan posted five strikeouts in the game, four coming from starting pitcher, Ashton Martin. Relief pitcher, Emma Collins, was rewarded the save and posted one strikeout.

How It Happened
The Trojans scored first in the contest on Saturday afternoon to take an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The Warriors countered with a solo home run from Addie Nugent to tie the game up 1-1. The Warriors weren't finished as Lydia Clanton had a two-out single. She then advanced to second as Lexi Thompson drew her eighth walk of the season. Megan New then singled to score Clanton and put the Warriors on top 2-1 after the first inning.
In the bottom of the third inning, Delaney Byers led-off with a single to take first base. She stole second and was brought in on a home run by Clanton to take the 4-1 lead.
The Warriors struck again in the bottom of the fourth inning. Makaila Irby came in to pinch hit and drew a walk. Emma Collins then came in to pinch run. Collins stole second and third base. Taylor Le then came up with a walk. Nugent singled and advanced to second on the throw, while Collins and Le went on to score. The Warriors led 6-1.
Lexi Thompson led-off the bottom of the fifth inning with a single and advanced to second on a throwing error by the Trojans. New followed up with single to move Thompson over to third. Micah Williams then came in to run for New. Williams stole second and drew the attention to second base which allowed for Thompson to steal home and put the Warriors ahead 7-1.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Warriors didn't let up. Nugent led-off with a single to left field and advanced to third on a throwing error from Mount Olive's left fielder. Byers followed up with a single to score Nugent and give the Warriors a 8-1 lead.
Southern Wesleyan went on to win game one 8-1.
Again in game two, the Trojans struck first in the top of the first inning. But the Warriors countered in the bottom of the inning with a run of their own.
In the top of the fourth inning, the Trojans added two runs to lead 3-1. In the bottom of the inning, Lydia Clanton got on base after being hit by a pitch. Lexi Thompson put down a sacrifice bunt to move Clanton over to second. Megan New grounded out to the pitcher, but Clanton was able to take third. Kali Berrigan then singled up the middle and picked up an RBI as Clanton came in to score. The Warriors trailed 3-2.
Delaney Byers doubled to lead-off the bottom of the fifth inning. Clanton followed with a single and advanced to second, while Byers went on to score. The Warriors tied it up 3-3.
The Warriors took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. Berrigan led-off with a walk. Emma Collins put down a sacrifice bunt and moved Berrigan to second base. Grace McGuffin doubled to bring in Berrigan and put the Warriors on top 4-3.
Southern Wesleyan went on to win game two 4-3.
Southern Wesleyan hosts the Limestone Saints on April 3 at 5 and 7 p.m. They will then host the Converse Valkyries on April 5 at 4 and 6 p.m.
