Spartanburg, SC – Southern Wesleyan took down the Regent Royals in an 89-45 final on Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors posted a 56.5% field goal percentage and 75% from the three point line. Emily Waters led the team with 18 points. Waters was followed by Iva Krstevska with 17 points and Denisha Hall with 13 points. The Warriors recorded 45 rebounds in the victory over Regent. Lisana Burnett led the team with eight rebounds. Burnett recorded eight assists, she was followed by Breanna Richardson with six assists. Southern Wesleyan recorded 12 steals with Burnett leading the team with five. Emily Waters posted the lone block of the afternoon.

How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan jumped out early as Emily Waters and Iva Krstevska made layups to give the Warriors a 4-0 lead. The Warriors continued to push ahead as Lisana Burnett, Lonesha Lee and Waters each made baskets to give them an 11-0 point advantage. Breanna Richardson made a layup followed by a three point shot by Denisha Hall giving the Warriors a 21-0 point lead. A three point jump shot by Hope Sheetz put the Royals on the board, but the Warriors countered with a jump shot by KatyBeth Rentz to put their lead at 23-3.
The Regent Royals' Chelsee Thompson made a three point jump shot to kick off the second quarter and put the Royals down 8-29. Southern Wesleyan continued to push ahead as Iva Krstevska made a three point jump shot to put them up 24-points to the Royals. The Warriors shut down the Royals offense and continued to push their lead as Lisana Burnett and Emily Waters made layups, and Jessica Sparks sunk a three point shot. Layups by Madalynn Crawford and Tanayja Williams gave the Warriors a forty point lead at half time.
Southern Wesleyan kicked off the third quarter with a free throw by Lisana Burnett, but the Royals countered with free throws by Chelsee Thompson to put them behind the Warriors 14-55. A three point shot by Iva Krstevska and a layup by Breanna Richardson gave the Warriors a 62-14 point lead. Chelsee Thompson made three baskets in a row to allow the Royals to come to 20-68 behind the Warriors.
Regent pushed back with a three point shot by Caitland Jackson, but the Warriors countered to maintain their advantage as Jessica Sparks made a jump shot. Three point jump shots by Iva Krstevska and Jessica Sparks put the Warriors on top 82-34. Southern Wesleyan's offense continue to press down on Regent as Breanna Richardson sunk a three point jump shot and Emily Waters made a layup. Southern Wesleyan went on to win the game 89-45.
Southern Wesleyan will host their home opener on November 20 as they host the Coker Cobras at 5:30 p.m. They will then travel to their first Conference Carolinas matchup of the season as they travel to Tigerville, SC to take on the North Greenville Crusaders at 5:30 p.m. on November 28.
