Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the USC Aiken Pacers on Wednesday afternoon in a 74-51 final score.
The Warriors shot 35% from the field in the loss to the Pacers. Lisana Burnett led the team with 14 points while Iva Krstevska followed with 13. The Warriors recorded 37 rebounds with Burnett leading the team individuallly with nine. She was followed by Lonesha Lee with six and Krstevska with five. Southern Wesleyan recorded 16 assists, with three Warriors posting three apiece. Breanna Richardson led the team with two steals and Burnett led the team with two of the three blocks.

How It Happened
The Pacers charged out of the gate with a three point shot by Kyrie' Chandler, but the Warriors countered with a layup by Emily Waters to make the score 3-2. Southern Wesleyan challenged back, taking a 6-3 point lead on layups by Lisana Burnett. A three point shot by Iva Krstevska gave the Warriors a 9-5 advantage, but the Pacers challenged with a layup to make the score 7-9. The Pacers continued to challenge the Warriors with shots by Star Toomey and Chandler to take a 15-9 point advantage over Southern Wesleyan.
Southern Wesleyan kicked off the second quarter with a layup by Emily Waters to come to 17-11 behind USC Aiken. A layup by Iva Krstevska and free throws by Lisana Burnett put the Warriors down four points to the Pacers. Back-to-back layups by Kwajelin Farrar allowed USC Aiken to push ahead to take a 23-15 point lead. Southern Wesleyan continued to fight back to take a 25-23 point lead on back-to-back three point shots by Krstevska. However, a three point shot by Grace Crawford allowed the Pacers to regain a 28-25 point at the half.
USC Aiken took a 30-25 point lead on a layup by Kwajelin Farrar. Back-to-back three point shots by Alex Canady and Kyrie' Chandler allowed the Pacers to push their lead to 41-25. Despite a three point shot by Melyk Taoil, the Warriors continued to fight with layups by Emily Waters and Breanna Richardson to put them down 31-51.
Lisana Burnett and Breanna Richardson kicked off the fourth quarter with layups to put the Warriors down 42-58. Despite a jump shot by Denisha Hall, the Pacers continued to push ahead with a three point shot by Grace Crawford to allow USC Aiken to remain ahead 68-46. Despite made free throws by KatyBeth Rentz, the Warriors fell to the Pacers in a 74-51 final.
Southern Wesleyan will next host the Barton Bulldogs on January 5 at 2 p.m. They will remain in Historic Tysinger Gymnasium on January 8 as they take on the Limestone Saints at 5:30 p.m.
