Tigerville, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the North Greenville Crusaders in an 18-5 final on Wednesday afternoon.
The Warriors posted 15 shots, with all 15 being shots on goal. Abigail Welch led the team with six shots on goal, while teammate Jairy Sandoval followed her with four. Welch and Sandoval each recorded two goals, and Amy Pfefferkorn posted the loan assist of the afternoon. Welch recorded eight ground balls, and Sandoval led the team with five draw controls. Kaeleigh McDaniel played the whole sixty minutes in goal and posted 11 saves during the game.

How It Happened
North Greenville struck early on Wednesday afternoon, scoring the first goal within the first minute of play on a goal by Aly Estes. They lengthened their lead to 2-0 seconds later. With just over 24 minutes left in the first half, Jairy Sandoval drove the ball to the cage to put the Warriors on the board and make the score 3-1. The Crusaders pushed their lead to 6-1, but the Warriors countered with a goal by Abigail Welch seconds later. Despite several clutch saves by Kaeleigh McDaniel, North Greenville extended their lead to 11-2 before Southern Wesleyan was able to put another goal on the board. Taylor Hames took a pass from freshman Amy Pfefferkorn and put the ball in the cage to make the score 11-3.
Coming back from the half down 13-3, Kaeleigh McDaniel defended the cage from the Crusaders attacks. Jairy Sandoval received the ball on good clear attempt and scored the fourth goal of the afternoon for Southern Wesleyan. Despite several more saves by the Warrior defense, the Crusaders lengthened their lead and won the game in an 18-5 final.
Southern Wesleyan will remain on the road on April 7 as they take on the Converse Valkyries. They will return to Childs Field to close out the inaugural season on April 21 against the Limestone Saints at 12 p.m.
