High Point, NC - Conference Carolinas announced the 2019 Women's Lacrosse All-Conference Teams on April 25 with two Warriors earning positions on the teams. Kaeleigh McDaniel and Jairy Sandoval became the first ever Warriors to receive All-Conference recognition as both earned positions on the All-Conference Third Team as a defender and goalkeeper.
Kaeleigh McDaniel, a sophomore from St. Augustine, Florida, anchored the Warriors in the cage all season. Currently leading all of NCAA Division II in saves, McDaniel has recorded 214 saves this season. She recorded a season high 21 saves in the loss to Limestone. McDaniel picked up her first five wins of her career this season as the Warriors went 5-12 this season to earn a place in the Conference Carolinas postseason tournament for the first time in program history.
McDaniel was joined on the All-Conference Third Team by defender Jairy Sandoval. Sandoval, a native of Stamford, CT, helped lead the defense for the Warriors this season. She caused a career high 20 turnovers this season and picked up 32 ground balls. Sandoval continued to impress as she won 34 draw controls for Southern Wesleyan. The sophomore defender scored two goals this season and had one assist.
"I am extremely proud of all the hard work and dedication these two have had all season," said Head Coach Lindsey Schneider. "It paid off with them achieving all conference awards. They have worked hard on and off the fields as leaders for the program. This is huge for not only them but the program as we are only a second year program and are able to have all conference players. It's a great way for us to wrap up this historic season."
