Coach Morrell says…

"Really proud of our effort against a really good and well coached team.  Giving up a goal in the first 30 seconds and not hanging our heads.  We continued to play and work to find some rhythm in the game.  We can learn and build from this game."

How It Happened

The Crusaders struck quickly in the first half, driving the ball into the goal to take a 1-0 lead after barely a minute of play.  Southern Wesleyan fought to tie the game, with Ashley Romanowski, Charlie Brown and Kayla Doyle all taking shots.  However, the Warriors could not tie as the Crusaders struck a second time to pull ahead 2-0 by the end of the first half.

Southern Wesleyan fought hard, with Rachel Curtis making a driving shot, but the ball was saved by the Crusader goal keeper to prevent the Warriors from putting a point on the board.  Belmont Abbey drove the ball down the field several times, but each time goal keeper Courtney McNeill saved the ball to prevent the Crusaders from lengthening their lead.  The Crusaders won in a 2-0 final.
