Coach Morrell says…

"This game was all about the second half for us.  First half we were out of sync and just couldn't get ahold of the game.  Converse was great and pressuring us and coming at us.  But we settled down in the second half and found some tempo in the game.  I'm really proud of the effort and turning it around in the second half with three goals."

How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan and Converse were both kept scoreless in the first half of play.  Despite several shots on goal, neither team could put the ball in the net.  The Warriors struck hard in the second half of play.  A foul in the box allowed the Warriors to take a penalty kick.  Senior Marla Burgos took the shot for the Warriors and drove the ball past the Southern Wesleyan goal keeper to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead.  With the ball on the Warriors side of the field, Southern Wesleyan's Ashley Romanowski took a corner kick for the Warriors.  Emily Corriher was right there to head the ball into the net to give Southern Wesleyan a 2-0.  With ten minutes remaining, Ashley Romanowski ran the ball down the field to score the final goal for Southern Wesleyan and give the Warriors a 3-0 victory.
