Central, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan falls in NCCAA South Regional against the Emmanuel College Lions in a 5-3 final score.
Final: Emmanuel 5, Southern Wesleyan 3
Records: Southern Wesleyan (12-10), Emmanuel (16-11)
Coach Jernigan Says….
"We gave this match everything we had but just came up short. Emmanuel has a great team and they will represent our region well at NCCAA Nationals in few weeks. We knew they were extremely talented but I think we really took it to them early. We jumped on them from the get go in doubles and took a 2-1 lead. In singles we were up on 3 courts and down on 3 so it looked promising. But they were able to grab the momentum in some of those matches and won the match. I told the girls afterwards that this was a very successful season in my eyes. Being our first full membership year wasn't sure what we would do. Well, we ended up #2 seed in conference tournament. Won opening round, so first time ever any tennis team records post season win, and almost repeated as the Southern region champions. I would say I'm very happy. I told the girls the best is still yet to come. Thanks to all our friends, families and fans of Warrior Tennis. Go Warriors!!!"
