Warriors Keep Tornados From Touching Down

Central, SC - Southern Wesleyan picks up their first win of the season in the home opener by defeating the Brevard Tornados 7-2.

How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan went 2-0 in doubles action on Saturday afternoon. Jennifer Ball and Chyna Jones defeated the team of Samantha Sepe and Kelsey Kushner in a 6-4 final. Iva Jankovic and Alex Golliher defeated the team of Darden King and Jen Cox in a 6-2 final.

In singles action, the Warriors went 5-1 against the Tornados. Jennifer Ball defeated a strong Samantha Sepe to come away with a big 7-5 and 6-3 win. Iva Jankovic defeated Kelsey Kushner in a 6-2 and 6-3 final. Chyna Jones defeated Darden King 6-1 and 6-0. Alex Golliher defeated Jen Cox in a 6-1 and 6-1 final. Caitlynn Nixon defeated Margaret Correll 6-3 and 6-3. Zoe Stanley fell to Eleanor Flannery in an 8-0 final.

What's Next

The Warriors will travel to Lenoir-Rhyne on February 8 to take on the Bears at 2 p.m. They will return home February 13 to host the Coker Cobras at 2 p.m.
