Warriors Break Three School Records at Phoenix Invitational

ELON, N.C.- Southern Wesleyan's women's track & field team competed at the Phoenix Invitational hosted by Elon University.

Olivia Bush won the javelin with a toss of 36.21 meters. Amy Barton broke two school records as she placed second in the 100 meters in 12.00 and second in the 200 meters in 24.44. Skylar Julian placed second in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.38. Brandi Jackson finished third in the 400 meters in 57.05. The 4x100-meter relay team of Jess Maggio, Barton, Julian, and Jackson placed third in 47.38. Erica Stephens broke the school record in the 1500 meters as she placed third in 4:43.16.

Casey Shearin finished fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 33.97 meters. Jenna Karel placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:05.77. Michelle Last finished fifth in the 3000-meter steeplechase in 12:58.75. Kiunah Fye placed sixth in the high jump as she cleared the bar at 1.50 meters. Ma'lecha Cousar finished sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 10.49 meters and tenth in the long jump with a leap of 4.85 meters. Kayla Eison placed seventh in the pole vault as she cleared the bar at 2.75 meters.

The Warriors will next compete at the Red Wolves Open hosted by Arkansas State University April 29.
