Warriors in Eighth Place After Day One of NCCAA Outdoor National Championships

ROME, Ga.- Southern Wesleyan's women's track & field team scored 12 points on day one of the NCCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

The Warriors are four points behind Roberts Wesleyan in seventh place and 35 points behind first-place Bethel.

Olivia Bush placed third in the javelin with a school record toss of 38.35 meters. The 4x800-meter relay team of Erica Stephens, Logan Thiel, Alana Grant, and Michelle Last placed fourth in 9:45.70. The 4x100-meter relay team of Amy Barton, Skylar Julian, Jess Maggio, and Morgan Haney finished first in the preliminaries in a school record 46.86 to qualify for finals. Julian and Maggio both qualified for the 100-meter hurdles finals as they placed 2nd in 14.77 and fifth in 15.35 respectively in the preliminaries. Barton placed third in the preliminaries of the 100 meters in 12.22 to qualify for finals. Barton also finished second in the preliminaries of the 200 meters in a school record 24.08 to qualify for finals. Kayla Eison placed eighth in the pole vault as she cleared the bar at 2.85 meters.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Barton, Haney, Jordan Hargrave and Brandi Jackson placed fifth in the preliminaries in 3:58.56. Jackson finished ninth in the preliminaries of the 400 meters in 57.69. Jenna Karel finished 12th in the preliminaries of the 400-meter hurdles in 1:08.25. Ma'lecha Cousar finished 15th in the triple jump with a leap of 10.40 meters.

The Warriors will wrap up day two of the meet tomorrow May 14 at 11 a.m.
