Southern Wesleyan Has Several in Top Ten in USC Open

Columbia, S.C. – Warriors succeed with small team in USC Open Meet on April 22 in preparation for Conference Carolinas Outdoor Championship.


How It Happened

Men's Results

In the Men's 400 Meter Dash, Kameron Corprew took 31st with a time of 52.47.  Corprew was followed by teammate Brennan Cameli with a time of 57.44 to take 34th.  Mason Sims took 24th in the Men's 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:04.84, and JJ Green took 25th with a time of 2:05.13.  They were followed by Kiernan Gordon with a time of 2:08.86 to take 29th.  In the Men's 1500 Meter Run, Robert Gwinn took 13th with a time of 4:18.04.  Gwinn was followed by Gordon in 32nd with a time of 6.13.78

Senior Jhante McMillan took fourth place in the Men's 400 Meter Hurdles with a time 54.34.  In the Men's Triple Jump, Raymond Simmons took ninth place with a distance of 13.13m.  Samuel Sparks took nineteenth in the Men's Hammer Throw with a distance of 28.81m.  In the Men's Javelin Throw, Robbie Bryant took third in a distance of 52.72m.  In the Men's Shot Put, Jake Wicks took 19th place with a distance of 11.33m.  He was followed by Craig Nowinski with a distance of 11.22m to take 20th, and Keauntai Robinson in 21st with a distance of 11.11m.


Women's Results

Sarah Cash finishing in 15th in the Women's 400 Meter Dash with a time of 1:01.61.  Cash was followed by Shavon Fields in 17th with a time of 1:32.04.  In the Women's 800 Meter Run, Alana Grant took 14th with a time of 2:28.16.  Hanan Balawi took 16th with a time of 5:10.86 in the Women's 1500 Meter Run.  She was followed by Michelle Last-Spearman in 18th with a time of 5:16.21.

In the Women's 100 Meter Hurdles, Skylar Julian took ninth with a time of 14.52.  The Women's 4x100 Meter Relay team of Morgan Haney, Amy Barton, Lyric King and Jami Lewis took fifth place with a time of 46.46.  The Women's 4x400 Meter Relay team of Haney, Barton, King and Lewis took fourth place with a time of 3:48.90. 

Sam Stelmaszek took fourth place in the Women's Pole Vault with a distance of 3.00m.  In the Women's Long Jump, senior Kia Tillman took seventh place with a distance of 5.08m.  Senior Olivia Bush took sixth place in the Women's Javelin Throw with a distance of 33.46m.  She was followed by teammate Kristen Smith in eighth place with a distance of 31.67m.


What's Next

The Warriors will compete on their home turf on April 28 and 29 in the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Championship.
