Warriors Continue To Improve In Liberty Kickoff

Lynchburg, VA - In the impressive indoor track facility on the campus of Liberty University, the women's program turned in another quality list of performances. This 40 team meet concluded the slate of January races for the Warriors. The squad appears primed for a February of many excellent performances as they inch towards The Conference Championship in three weeks' time.

 

Coach Thiel says...

"It was exciting to watch our kids compete hard this week, and to come away with some season bests and school records was great. Looking forward to another week of training and a chance to get healthier before we compete again."

 

Track Event Highlights:

60m Hurdles: Skylar Julian (JR) ran 9.01 in her hurdle race. That is Julian's season best. She is closing in on her personal best as she moves towards February.

400m: Jami Lewis finished 7th overall, 1st among DII opponents. Her time of 57.96 is her season best, and is less than .5 seconds off of her personal best for inddor meets.

500m: Senior Shavon Fields took down a school record in her first ever 500. She crossed the line with a time of 1:24.69.

 

Field Event Highlights:

Triple Jump: Freshman Tierra Johnson moved her way up the Conference Carolinas rankings with her 2nd meet of the season. Her jump of 10.69 meters is currently good enough for 4th place in the Conference.

Southern Wesleyan will next compete in the Buccanneer Invitational on February 2-3 in Johnson City, TN.
