Warriors Place High In ETSU Invite

Johnson City, TN – Southern Wesleyan competed in their first meet of the 2019 year on Friday and Saturday with several ladies placing within the top twenty-five in their events.

 

How It Happened

Track Results

60 Meters : Lyric King led the pack in the 60 meters, taking 13th with a time of 7.94.  She was followed by Jami Lewis in 20th with a time of 8.06.  Right on Lewis' heels, Michele Beugre came in 22nd place with a time of 8.07.

200 Meters : Lyric King and Mycherie Onwuzurukie finished in the top 25 in the women's 200 meters.  King took 21st place with a time of 26.26 while Onwuzurukie took 22nd with a time of 26.32.  Following King and Onwuzurukie, Michele Beugre took 26th place with a time of 26.47.  She was followed by A'Miracle Scott in 34th place with a time of 26.70.

400 Meters : Hayley Singletary led the Warriors in the 400 meters with a time of 1:01.52 to take ninth place.  Singletary was followed by Amanda Trapp in 13th place with a time of 1:02.16.

800 Meters : In the 800 meters, freshman Madison Lewellen led the Warriors, finishing in the top 25 runners with a time of 2:38.38 to put her in 24th place.  Maggie Rice followed her in 26th place with a time of 2:39.47.  Kyra Hood followed rice in 30th place with a time of 2:45.06.

Mile : Three Warriors finished in the top 25 in the mile.  Kyra Hood led the team, taking 20th with a time of 5:58.70.  She was closely followed by teammate Taylor Broadwell in 21st with a time of 6:04.77.  Hayley Singletary took 22nd place with a time of 6:04.83.

3000 Meters : Madison Lewellen took 20th place with a time of 11:54.81.

60 Meter Hurdles : Southern Wesleyan took 10th and 11th place in the 60 meter hurdles.  Chyna Campbell led the team taking 10th with a time of 9.36.  Skylar Julian followed her with time of 9.44 to take 11th.

 

Field Results

Long Jump : Mycherie Onwuzurukie took sixth in the long jump with a distance of 5.47 meters, putting her in third place in the Conference Carolinas standings.  She was followed by A'Miracle Scott with a distance of 5.15 meters to take 13th place.

Weight Throw : In the weight throw, Kelsie Smith took 13th place with a distance of 13.33 meters.  Smith was followed by Chyna Cannon in 16th place with a distance of 11.97 meters.

 

What's Next

Southern Wesleyan will next travel to the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC to take part in the Gamecock Inaugural on January 18-19.  They will then travel back to Columbia, SC to take part in the Carolina Challenge on February 1-2.
