How It Happened

Set One

The Warriors took the lead quickly on an attack error by Tornado Victoria Gause.  However, the Tornado countered to tie the set.  Southern Wesleyan would go on to pull ahead several times, but the Tornado matched them point for point.  However, kills by Paige O'Connor, Olivia Johnson and Kendall Vallancourt launched the the Warriors to a 16-13 point advantage.  The Tornado countered to put two points on the board, but kills by Paige O'Connor and attack errors by Tornado players, gave the Warriors a 23-15 point lead.  The Warriors went on to win the first set 25-18.

Set Two

Southern Wesleyan shot into the lead in the second set of the afternoon, taking a 7-1 point lead on kills by Courtney Price and Kendall Vallancourt and several attack errors by Tornado players.  The Tornado gained two more points, but kills by Olivia Johnson, Katie Hendricks and Davis Hendricks shut them down to give the Warriors a ten point lead and bring the score to 13-3.  Southern Wesleyan built on their lead, driving ahead to win the second set in a 25-12 final.

Set Three

Back to back attack errors by the Tornado gave the Warriors a 2-0 lead in the third set, however the Tornado countered to tie the third set 4-4.  Like the first set, the teams both fought for control, with one team pulling ahead and then the other taking control.  Multiple attack errors by Tornado players and a kill by Paige O'Connor gave the Warriors a 20-11 point lead over King.  King fought back, challenging Southern Wesleyan, but kills by Paige O'Connor and Kendall Vallancourt gave the Warriors a 25-22 victory
